Leeds Beckett University Alumni Fee Discount

You will receive 20% off your annual postgraduate tuition fees for each year of your studies. This is a fee reduction rather than a monthly payment; the exact amount therefore depends on the costs of your Master’s, PhD or other postgraduate programme. It applies to programmes starting in September 2023/24 and covers the entire duration of your studies. Leeds Beckett University (formerly Leeds Metropolitan University) offers this to its own graduates who return to the university to undertake further study. You can combine this funding with other university scholarships or grants. These will be deducted first, after which the amount of 20% will be applied to the remaining balance.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolling on a postgraduate course at Leeds Beckett University which leads to a recognised qualification.
• Your previous degree: You have already completed a full degree programme at Bachelor’s level (level 6) or above at Leeds Beckett University, including the period when it was known as Leeds Metropolitan University. This includes Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, PGCE qualifications, PhDs and professional doctorates.
• New enrolment: You are registering for the postgraduate programme for the first time and have not yet started your studies.
• Field of study: Any subject is acceptable, provided that the degree programme leads to a recognised qualification.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Courses that do not count: Degree programmes leading solely to the award of credit points without a degree, vocational courses for which the tuition fees for Bachelor’s students apply (e.g. CIM certificates), and courses funded by the NHS or by an employer, including work-study programmes.

How to apply

If you completed your degree in 2002 or later, you do not need to fill in a separate form. The University will automatically check your eligibility based on your application for a postgraduate programme and your previous academic records. If you completed your degree in 2001 or earlier, please email proof of your degree to the University’s Fees Office.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not an award presented as part of a competition. It is an automatic discount for anyone who meets the eligibility criteria; therefore, there is neither a selection panel nor a limited number of places. If you hold an eligible degree from Leeds Beckett University and enrol on an eligible postgraduate programme, you will receive a discount of 20%. Please note that the university may amend or withdraw the discount at its discretion.
