About this scholarship

Beevers Fund (Robert Beevers Memorial Fund)

You will receive up to approximately 16,000 EUR for one year to cover your tuition fees or other study-related costs. The fund supports you in making the transition from your degree programme to research. In the past, it has even funded full PhD positions, covering living costs, fees and fieldwork. The fund is administered by the Open University in the United Kingdom and is named after Dr Robert Beevers, one of the university’s founders. Funding is awarded on the basis of merit, so your income will not affect your chances.

Who can apply

  • Your degree: You have an honours degree from the Open University.
  • What you plan next: You would like to go on to further study or undertake research building on this qualification.
  • Field of study: Any subject.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
  • Money: Your income and savings are irrelevant.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted in writing using the Crowther Fund’s standard application form, which covers both the Crowther Fund and the Beevers Fund. The application deadline is 15 February. As applications can only be submitted at specific times of the year, please check the fund’s website in advance to find out the current application period before you begin your application.

How realistic are your chances?

The pool of applicants is, by its very nature, small. You must already hold an Honours degree from the Open University and be aiming for an academic career, which rules out most students from the outset. If you fit this profile and can present a clear research plan, your prospects are good.
