College of Arts and Law Part-Time Masters Scholarships

You will receive a fee waiver, which covers your tuition fees at the UK domestic rate for a part-time Master’s degree programme at the University of Birmingham and is paid out via two years. The College of Arts and Law awards these scholarships for programmes commencing in September 2026 across its five faculties. As an international student, you will also benefit from this scholarship: the amount of the home tuition fees will be deducted from your higher international tuition fees, so you will only pay the difference. Please note that the scholarship only covers tuition fees, not living costs.

Who can apply

• Level: You are starting a part-time on-campus Master’s programme and are not yet enrolled on one.
• Field of study: Any subject within the Faculty of Humanities and Law: English and Creative Writing, Theatre Studies, History, Languages, Art History, Music, Law, Philosophy, Theology or Religious Studies.
• University: You are studying at the University of Birmingham (Edgbaston Campus).
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Start date: You’ll be starting your degree in September 2026.
• No double funding: This award cannot be combined with any other scholarship, including partnership scholarships.

How to apply

First, apply for a place on the course. Then complete the online funding application form and ask two referees to submit their references via the online reference form. The application deadline is 25 March 2026 at 12:00 noon GMT. The faculty’s academic committees will draw up a ranking list of applications; the results are usually announced between early May and the end of June. By submitting a single application, you will automatically be considered for the relevant scholarships offered by the College of Arts and Law.

How realistic are your chances?

The award is restricted to a single department at a university, meaning that the pool of applicants is smaller than for open scholarships. However, the five departments cover many popular fields of study, and there is a fixed number of scholarships available. As you will be assessed against all other applicants in your department, good grades and the submission of a complete application by the deadline are of the utmost importance. Missing references or a late application form will automatically result in rejection; therefore, plan the two-stage process well in advance of the March deadline.
