About this scholarship
Entrance Scholarship at Edge Hill University
You will receive up to about EUR 2,350 (£2,000), which will be paid in instalments over the course of your studies, if you can demonstrate genuine talent and commitment outside your studies. The prize is awarded by Edge Hill University in Ormskirk, England. It is not dependent on your grades, your degree subject or your financial circumstances. It recognises achievements in areas such as the creative arts (design, painting, film, writing), the performing arts (dance, theatre, music, playing in a band), running your own business, strong IT skills, or voluntary work and fundraising. This list is not exhaustive, so other areas in which you excel will also be taken into account. The exact amount depends on your degree programme: approximately 2,350 (£2,000) euros for a full-time Bachelor’s or integrated Master’s programme, approximately 1,750 (£1,500) for a full-time Foundation programme and approximately 1,175 (£1,000) euros for a full-time teacher training programme (PGCE or PGDE).

- Your offer: You have applied via UCAS, the central application system for higher education institutions in the UK, and have accepted your place of offer.
- Entry point: You are starting at the beginning of your degree programme. If you are joining directly in the 2 academic year or a higher academic year, you cannot apply.
- Field of study: Open to all subjects.
- Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
- What you show: You may cite a specific achievement outside your everyday school or university life, for example in the fields of art, the performing arts, business management, IT or voluntary work. Sporting achievements, on the other hand, are considered under the separate sports scholarship scheme.
- Not eligible: Permanent staff at the university are not eligible to apply.
How to apply
Once you have formally accepted your place at university, please complete an application form. A selection panel will then review your application and decide whether you will be awarded the scholarship.
How realistic are your chances?
This award is open only to those who have already accepted a place at this particular university, which means the pool of applicants remains small. Selection is based on what you can demonstrate outside your studies, rather than on academic grades or financial need. The key to success is therefore a clear, well-documented example of your talent or commitment. If you can demonstrate a genuine achievement and apply early, your chances are good.
