Benefit

You will receive full tuition fees plus a monthly living grant of about 2,110 EUR (approximately 21,805 GBP per year) for three years. The scholarship is based on the UK standard rate and is tax-free. It is a full scholarship for a PhD in law at the University of Warwick in the UK, awarded by Warwick Law School. Up to three of these scholarships are awarded each year.

Eligibility

• Degree: You must hold a good Master’s degree (or an equivalent qualification) in law or a related subject. A very good Bachelor’s degree with a grade of ‘very good’ may also be accepted.
• Research plan: You have a compelling research proposal that aligns with one of the Faculty of Law’s key research areas, such as human rights, family law, international and European law, or law and technology.
• Application status: You have already applied for the PhD programme at Warwick Law School or are in the first year of your PhD.
• Nationality: You can apply from any country.
• English: You have an IELTS (Academic) score of at least 7.0 overall, with no individual component score below 6.0.

How to apply

First, apply for the MPhil/PhD in Law and wait for an offer from the Department. Before doing so, please contact a member of staff who shares your research interests. Applications without this contact are usually rejected. You should then submit a separate scholarship application via the Faculty of Law’s online portal by 31 January. You will be notified of the outcome by email by the end of May.

How realistic are your chances?

As only up to three scholarships are awarded each year and applications are open to all nationalities, competition for this scholarship is fierce. The decision depends primarily on the quality of your research proposal. A clearly defined project that fits squarely within a research area at the University of Warwick and is supported by a supervisor who has agreed to supervise your topic is what sets applicants apart from the rest. Establishing contact with a supervisor at an early stage is essential and not optional.
