About this scholarship

Wilson Campbell Scholarship

During your first year of study at Newcastle University in the UK, you will receive a one-off payment of about 1,170 EUR (£1,000). This merit-based grant is funded by a private donor. It is awarded to the top-performing first-year students in the fields of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. There is no monthly payment; instead, you will receive a one-off sum to support your studies.

Who can apply

  • University: You’re studying at Newcastle University in the UK.
  • Degree stage: You are now starting level 1, the first year of your Bachelor’s degree.
  • Field of study: You are studying Electrical Engineering and Electronics or Mechanical Engineering. Preference will be given to students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
  • Residence: You are a student based in the UK. International students are not eligible to apply.
  • Grades: You are one of the top students on your course. The award is based on academic merit.

How to apply

No separate application is required. The scholarship is awarded automatically to the top-performing first-year students on eligible degree programmes.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is highly selective. You must be a first-year student based in the United Kingdom, studying one of two specific engineering disciplines at a university, and it is awarded only to the very best students in the year group, with a focus on mechanical engineering. It is not possible to apply directly; therefore, outstanding admission results are valued more highly than a strong application. If you are among the top students on one of these courses, you are automatically in the running.
