mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna - Support award

Margarethe Feiling support award

You will receive the 1,500 EUR as a one-off award for the academic year 2026/27. The mdw Foundation awards two of these prizes: one to a singer and one to a violinist studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw).

Who can apply

• University: You are a student at the mdw in Vienna.
• Field of study: Your main artistic subject is either voice (soprano, mezzo-soprano or contralto) or violin.
• Enrolment: You are enrolled on this course for the summer term 2026.
• Grades: You have good or very good academic results.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Financial situation: You must submit your parents’ payslips and your current tenancy agreement. Your income will be taken into account in the assessment.

How to apply

Apply online using the form on the mdw website. The application period runs from 9 February to 29 May 2026, 23:59. Please ensure that your application is submitted in full and by the deadline, as late submissions will not be considered.

How realistic are your chances?

This prize has very strict eligibility criteria: only students of singing and violin at a Viennese university may apply, and only two prizes are awarded – one for each discipline. This keeps the pool of applicants small; so if you are studying the right subject and can demonstrate good academic results, your prospects are good. Good academic performance is the most important criterion that sets applicants apart from the rest.
