About this scholarship
Bahr-Stiftung research travel grant
You will receive a travel grant of up to 2,000 EUR for a research visit to archives, libraries or academic collections. The amount covers your travel and accommodation costs, as well as any archive fees incurred during the trip. The trip may take place in the year 2027. The grant is provided by the Richard & Emmy Bahr Foundation, a Swiss foundation that supports students at the University of Innsbruck.
Who can apply
- Where you study: You are enrolled as a full-time student at the University of Innsbruck and have registered to continue your studies.
- Degree level: You are studying for a diploma, master’s or PhD.
- Field of study: You are studying German or History, or you are on a teacher training course specialising in German, History or Social Studies and Political Education.
- Language: You speak German, as the foundation's rules require.
- No university job: If you are not employed by the University of Innsbruck, you will be given priority; however, being employed by the University does not disqualify you.
How to apply
The member of staff at your institute responsible for the project database will enter your application and upload your documents. You must then email the project database reference number to forschungsfoerderung@uibk.ac.at by Tuesday, 15 September. Please apply before the start of your research stay, as applications received after this date will not be considered. Decisions on funding will be made by October.
How realistic are your chances?
This scholarship is very specific: you must be studying German or History at a particular university, speak German and have a specific research trip planned. This means that the pool of applicants remains small. If you meet these requirements, can present a clearly defined project specifying the archives involved, and apply before your trip, your chances are good.
