Feiling Foundation - Awards of the Feiling Foundation (for Female Students of Voice and Related Subjects as well as for Students of Violine)

Margarethe Feiling Award

You will receive a one-off award of 1,500 EUR. This is a one-off payment, not a monthly scholarship. The mdw Foundation at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw) is awarding two of these scholarships for the academic year 2026/27: one for a vocal student and one for a violin student. Even if you meet all the eligibility criteria, you have no legal entitlement to the scholarship.

Who can apply

• University: You are a full-time student at the mdw in Vienna.
• Field of study: You are studying either singing (soprano, mezzo-soprano or alto) or the violin as your principal artistic subject.
• Enrolment: You are enrolled in your main subject for the 2026 summer term.
• Grades: Your results are good or very good.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the mdw’s online form, which will open on 9 February 2026. The application deadline is 29 May 2026 at 23:59. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. It is recommended that you use a tablet, PC or laptop rather than a smartphone.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding scheme is very narrowly defined: only mdw students specialising in voice or violin are eligible to apply, and only two scholarships are awarded each year. As a result, the pool of applicants remains small compared to open scholarship schemes. If you are studying one of these two subjects at the mdw and are achieving good results, your chances are good.
