LL.M. scholarship of the University of Vienna (incoming)

You will receive a one-off grant of up to 10,000 EUR towards the tuition fees for an LL.M. programme at the University of Vienna. An LL.M. is a one-year postgraduate law programme for those who already hold a law degree. The grant is paid in two instalments and covers tuition fees only; it does not cover travel or living costs. It is provided by the Scholarship Foundation for Law Students at the University of Vienna. Awards are made once a year at the end of the summer term.

Who can apply

• Degree: You have completed a law degree at a university outside Austria.
• Where you study: You have been admitted to an LL.M. programme at the University of Vienna and can provide your letter of admission.
• Field: That’s right. The degree programmes focus on commercial and corporate law.
• Grades: You have achieved excellent results in your exams and in your academic work.
• Nationality: Open to all nationalities.
• Timing: Applications must be submitted before your LL.M. lectures begin.
• Language: You can demonstrate that you have the language skills required for the degree programme.

How to apply

Applications should be submitted by email to the Office of the Director of Studies. Please send the application form, your CV, a two-page letter of motivation outlining your qualifications and career plans, an academic transcript, your foreign academic transcripts and proof of admission. The application period runs every year from the end of April to 21 May. You will be notified of the decision by email in early July.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding is awarded on a highly selective basis. You must hold a foreign law degree, have a confirmed place on an LL.M. programme in Vienna, and have excellent grades, meaning that only a small number of applicants meet the criteria. Applicants are ranked on the basis of their grades and language skills, subject to the available budget, and there is no legal entitlement to the grant. If you clearly meet the requirements and can demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, your chances are good.
