About this scholarship

Merit scholarship of the University of Applied Arts Vienna

As a reward for outstanding academic achievement over the past academic year, you will receive a one-off payment of up to 1,500 EUR. The University of Applied Arts Vienna (“die Angewandte”) awards this once a year to its best students. When applying, you can also apply for additional funding from the University of Vienna’s general scholarship foundation in the same step. The award is given to the best students, so there is no automatic entitlement to it.

Who can apply

  • University: You are a full-time student at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
  • Study stage: You are a full-time student and are currently in at least your 3 semester.
  • Credits: You have earned at least 55 ECTS credits in the past academic year.
  • Grades: Your average mark is not below 2.0 on the Austrian scale, where 1 is the highest mark.
  • On schedule: You have not yet exceeded the standard period of study. One additional semester is permitted per stage of study, taking into account circumstances such as pregnancy.
  • Field of study: Every subject taught at the university counts.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

Applications are accepted once a year via the university’s online portal, exclusively during the autumn semester. The next application round will take place in autumn 2026 and covers results from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026. The exact date has not yet been announced. There is a round without an interview, and you will receive the result by email.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is presented exclusively to students from a single university who have already demonstrated outstanding academic achievement; consequently, the pool of eligible candidates is small. If you clearly meet the requirements in terms of credit points and marks and are on track with your studies, your chances are good. Keep an eye out for the application window in the autumn, as it only opens once a year.
