About this scholarship

ASAC Travel Grants

You will receive a travel grant to attend a scientific conference, which you can use to present your own work. The amount depends on the conference in question. For the International Symposium on Chromatography 2026 in Prague, for example, the grant amounts to up to EUR 1,000. New grants for various events are announced on an ongoing basis. The funding comes from the Austrian Society for Analytical Chemistry (ASAC), which aims to encourage students to participate actively in chemistry conferences.

Who can apply

  • University: You are studying at an Austrian university.
  • Field of study: You are studying chemistry, specialising in analytical chemistry.
  • Active part: You are giving a talk or presenting a poster at the conference. Simply attending as a member of the audience does not count.
  • Membership: You are a member of ASAC. Applications from non-members are less likely to be successful.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are studying at an Austrian university.

How to apply

Applications should be made by sending an informal email. Please attach your CV, a letter of recommendation from your supervisor and the abstract you have submitted. Deadlines vary depending on the conference in question; please therefore check which events are currently open for applications.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is very narrowly defined. You must be studying chemistry in Austria, be a member of the ASAC and actually present your own work; consequently, only a small number of people are eligible. If you meet these requirements and a presentation or poster has been accepted, your chances are good. Please note that the awarding of scholarships is linked to the conferences advertised by the ASAC and that there is no automatic entitlement to a scholarship.
