About this scholarship

Fred Adlmüller scholarship

You receive 2,000 EUR per year for one year to study at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (die Angewandte). The Fred Adlmüller Scholarship Foundation funds 6 of these awards each year for Austrian students. One award is reserved for students in Fashion. The scholarship is named after the Austrian couturier Fred Adlmüller, who led the university's fashion department in the 1970s. A trust commission, chaired by the rector, picks the students whose work it judges strongest.

Who can apply

  • University: You study at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
  • Nationality: You hold Austrian citizenship. (Students from EEA or non-EEA countries can instead apply for the separate Fred Adlmüller International Student Grant, which offers 2 awards of 2,000 EUR each.)
  • Study stage: You have reached at least the 6th semester of a diploma course, the 3rd semester of a bachelor's, or the 1st semester of a master's. Continuing-education courses count if they include an artistic major.
  • Study duration: You are no more than 2 semesters past the minimum length of your degree.
  • Field of study: Any subject at the university can apply; one of the 6 awards is reserved for Fashion.

How to apply

You upload your CV (max. 1 page) and a portfolio (max. 5 pages) as a single PDF, then send a confirmation email to the scholarship office. The deadline for 2025/26 is 30 April 2026, 22:00. The trust commission then decides who gets an award.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is cut narrowly: you must already study at one specific university, hold Austrian citizenship and be at the right stage of your degree, so few people qualify. With 6 awards and selection based on your portfolio, a well-matched applicant with strong work samples has solid prospects. If you are in Fashion, the dedicated place improves your odds further.
