General Description

The former Professor of Anatomy in University College Cork was Michael A. MacConaill. He made great advances in Physical Medicine and Orthopaedic Surgery. To recognize these contributions a prize is awarded on a yearly basis. The MacConaill Prize in Clinical Anatomy is avalibale to registered medical students. The prize is only avalibale to students that have passed the Second University Prizes Examination in Clinical Anatomy. Only the scores on the first attempt of the examination will be counted. The prize will be awarded to the candidate that shows the most originality in their answers on the Clinical Anatomy portion of the Second University Prizes Examination. The Professor of Anatomy will make this decision. This cash prize will be awarded annually.

Requirements

To receive this prize a student must be registered as a Second Year Medical Student. The student must also pass the entire Second University Prizes Examination on the first attempt without compensation. To be eligible the student will also have to have marks in modules FM1001, FM1002, FM1003, FM2001, and FM2002 that aggregate to put the student in the top 10% of their class.
