About this grant / loan
What you get
You get an interest-free loan from the University of Liège (ULiège) to pay your regular tuition fees. Instead of paying the whole amount at once, you spread it over several monthly instalments during the current academic year. This is a loan, not a grant: it covers only your ordinary enrolment fees and you pay it back, but with no interest. The university's Student Social Service (Service Social des Étudiants, SSE) runs it. The loan covers one academic year, so you apply again each year you need it.
Who can apply
- University: You are enrolled at the Université de Liège.
- Field of study: Open to all subjects.
- Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
- Your situation: A social worker from the SSE will assess your case on an individual basis. The loan is particularly helpful if you are not eligible for a reduced tuition fee or if you are still awaiting a decision on a grant from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation (FWB).
How to apply
Applications must be submitted online via the ULiège portal. Fees must be paid by 1 February, so the deadline for applying for a loan is 15 January 2027. If the FWB refuses to award you a study grant after this date, you may still apply. If the refusal is issued in May or later, your case will be reviewed by a social worker.
