About this scholarship

Salus Sanguinis Foundation fellowship

You will receive a training grant (funding for work and further training abroad) amounting to approximately 1,670 EUR. This will enable you to spend some time at a leading research centre abroad and bring the latest treatment methods for blood cancer back to Belgium. The scholarship runs for up to 1 years and may be renewed once, bringing the total duration to a maximum of 2 years. Previous scholarship holders have undertaken their training in Paris, Lille, Leuven and Sydney. The funding comes from the Salus Sanguinis Foundation, which was established at UCLouvain in 1975. Together with the Saint-Luc University Hospitals, it funds research into blood cancers in children and adults.

Who can apply

  • Field: They carry out research into blood cancers such as leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma (also known as haematology).
  • Who you are: You are a PhD student in haematology at a laboratory within UCLouvain’s Faculty of Health Sciences, or a clinical researcher, specialist, junior doctor or trainee junior doctor at the Saint-Luc or Mont-Godinne University Hospitals.
  • Nationality: You are a young Belgian medical researcher.
  • Where you go: You are undertaking a training programme at a leading research centre abroad and will subsequently return to Belgium.
