Grant for short-term doctoral training abroad

You will receive up to 2,000 EUR per application as a one-off lump sum for attending a postgraduate training course outside the French-speaking Community of Belgium, either in Flanders or abroad. The amount covers your registration fees, your return travel costs and accommodation costs up to 100 EUR per day (please keep your receipts). The stay may last up to 1 weeks. This is an internal scholarship offered by the University of Liège (ULiège) to its own PhD students, enabling you to take part in training courses that are not available in your own region.

Who can apply

• Level: You are enrolled as a PhD student at the University of Liège.
• Where you go: The training takes place at an institution in Flanders or abroad, outside the French-speaking Community (Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles).
• Type of training: It is a doctoral training course, not a research stay. The host must certify the ECTS credits (course credits that count towards your doctorate) it awards.
• Approval: The ULiège Doctoral Centre must recognise the course as relevant. You should apply for this with the support of your supervisor and include their letter with your application.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are enrolled at ULiège.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the online form, ideally as early as possible. Applications are reviewed once a quarter; the deadlines are 15 September, 15 December, 15 March and 15 June.
