About this scholarship
Benefit
You get a monthly salary to do a PhD at the University of Mons (UMONS) in Belgium. UMONS sets the amount at the level of the Belgian FRIA/FRESH doctoral grants, but it does not state the exact figure. The grant is tax-exempt, but you still pay into Belgian social security. The UMONS research council pays for it.
Eligibility
- Degree: You are in the final year of your master's or have just finished it.
- Where you study: You do your PhD at UMONS, in one of its research groups or institutes.
- Tax status: You qualify for Belgium's tax-exempt status for research grants.
- Apply elsewhere too: You must also apply to FNRS and FRIA, two Belgian research-funding bodies. If you win an FNRS grant, your UMONS fellowship moves to the following year.
- Field of study: All subjects are allowed.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
How to apply
You apply through the UMONS doctoral office (AVRE). Contact the PhD cell for the current call and the steps to follow.
