About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive a grant towards further training in librarianship, either in Denmark or as part of a study trip abroad. The amount of the grant is determined on a case-by-case basis and is not announced in advance. You should apply for a grant covering the costs of your project. The fund is administered by the Danmarks Biblioteksforening (Danish Library Association) in Copenhagen. It may also support library students and research projects on library science topics, and awards prizes to individuals or institutions that have made an outstanding contribution to the Danish library sector.

Who can apply

  • Who it is for: You are a qualified librarian looking to further your professional development.
  • Students too: Library students may also apply, but qualified librarians will be given priority.
  • Field of study: Library, archive, information or documentation studies.
  • Where you go: Your course, professional development programme or study trip may take place in Denmark or abroad, provided it helps to enhance your library skills.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
  • Your plan: You can specify a clear purpose, a timeframe and a budget, including any additional funding you have applied for.

How to apply

There is no application form. Send a letter to Danmarks Biblioteksforening in Copenhagen with a short description of your purpose, timeframe and budget. The deadline falls around 25 February each year. If you get a grant, you report back later on how you used it.
