About this scholarship

What the Kirstine and Niels Th. Jensen's Scholarship gives you

You will receive a one-off grant intended to help you undertake further training in a building trade or the visual arts. The amount of the grant is not published and varies. Payment is made in April. Esbjerg Municipality (Esbjerg Kommune) in Denmark awards this grant to support people from the Esbjerg region in continuing their training in a craft or artistic discipline.

Who can apply

  • Your field: You fit one of these groups: a masonry apprentice training in Esbjerg who has finished at least 1 year of apprenticeship; a qualified builder from Esbjerg who has passed the journeyman's exam (svendebrev); a formwork, groundwork or concrete worker from Esbjerg taking further training; or a painter, sculptor or architect.
  • Where you study (artists only): If you are a painter, sculptor or architect, you can study at the schools of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen or at the Aarhus School of Architecture.
  • Where you are from: Preference will be given to applicants from Esbjerg, although this is not a mandatory requirement.
  • Proof of studies: You can provide evidence that you are currently enrolled at an educational institution.

How to apply

Applications must be made using the official application form. This must be signed by your master craftsman or headteacher. Building tradespeople must also enclose a copy of their journeyman’s certificate. The application deadline is 1 March. Applications can only be submitted in the year in which the scholarship is awarded, usually from around one month before the deadline.
