Benefit

You receive a one-off grant of 120,000 DKK (about 16,000 EUR) for one year of full-time Chinese (Mandarin) language study in China. The money covers your travel, study and living costs. The Laurits Andersens Fond, a Danish foundation supporting Danish trade and industry with a focus on China, awards 4 to 8 of these grants each year. The study must be full-time. You cannot combine it with other studies, thesis work, a job or an internship.

Eligibility

• Who you are: You are a well-qualified student or have just completed your degree.
• Your goal: You would like to improve your Mandarin skills so that you can gain a foothold in the Danish business world.
• Your field: Any academic background is fine. The aim is language learning itself.
• Where you go: You choose a university in China yourself. Preference is given to universities outside Shanghai and Beijing.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply; however, the scholarship is aimed at those planning a future career in the Danish business sector.
• Timing: You must apply before you start. Studies that have already begun are not eligible for funding.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the online form on the Foundation’s website. You will need to upload your CV, academic transcripts, references, your intended place of study and proof of your Mandarin language skills. The application deadlines are 1 May and 1 November. The Foundation Board makes its decision at its meetings in June and December. Please note that the Foundation does not send out rejection letters.
