About this scholarship
Knud Højgaards Foundation travel grant
You will receive a travel grant to fund a period of study or an internship abroad. The amount of the grant is determined on a case-by-case basis and is not disclosed in advance. Once approved, the amount will be transferred to your Danish NemKonto bank account. The grant can also cover a full Master’s degree programme abroad. The funding comes from the Knud Højgaards Foundation (Knud Højgaards Fond), a Danish foundation that supports the education of young people in Denmark.
Who can apply
- Level: You are a Bachelor’s or Master’s student. Medical students currently undertaking a clinical placement may also apply.
- Where you study: You are enrolled at a Danish educational institution.
- Where you go: Your stay is abroad, not in Denmark. It must earn you credits (ECTS points) toward your degree, unless it is a full master's degree abroad.
- Length: The stay lasts longer than three months. Shorter stays are not eligible for funding, with the exception of clinical placements for medical students.
- Field of study: Open to all subjects.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are enrolled at a Danish higher education institution.
- One per degree: Only one scholarship may be awarded per degree. If you have already received one for your Bachelor’s degree, you cannot receive another for your Master’s degree.
- Savings limit: Your cash and savings, which you can access quickly, must not exceed 300,000 DKK (approximately 40,000 EUR).
How to apply
You can apply via the Foundation’s online portal at any time of year. First, create a user profile and then submit your application. There is no fixed deadline, but your application must be received by the Foundation before the start of your stay. Please include all supporting documents from the outset. These include your official letter of admission from the host institution, as well as either an application for the recognition of credits or prior approval for the transfer of credits. Missing documents cannot be submitted at a later date, and incomplete applications will be rejected. Processing takes around two months, and you will receive a response by email.
