About this scholarship

Johannes and Helga Bøggild's Scholarship

You will receive a travel grant of 5,000 to 10,000 DKK (about 670 to 1,340 EUR) for a study period of at least 12 months in an English-speaking country. The grant is awarded by the ‘Johannes og Helga Bøggilds Legat’, a Danish foundation established in 1956. It supports young Danes who wish to undertake further studies abroad.

Who can apply

  • Where you go: You are studying in an English-speaking country. A course taught in English does not count if the country itself is not English-speaking.
  • Length of stay: Your programme lasts for at least 12 months at a single institution. Short stays, group trips, general language courses and regular school lessons are not taken into account.
  • Field of study: You study commerce or banking (preferred), or law or medicine. Other subjects are not funded.
  • Nationality: You are a young person from Denmark.
  • Your own budget: You must be able to demonstrate that you have a total budget of at least 200,000 DKK (approximately 26,800 EUR) for your studies abroad.
  • Background (bonus, not required): You will be given some priority if you have lost one or both parents or if you grew up outside Copenhagen.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the GrantCompass portal. The deadline for applications is 18 May. Applications will be assessed in May, and funding decisions will be made in mid-June. Successful applicants will be notified directly.
