About this scholarship

Copenhagen University's Fund for Medical Students

You will receive a grant of at least 8,000 DKK (about 1,070 EUR) to help fund your medical studies. There is no published upper limit, and amounts below 8,000 DKK will not be paid out. The money is divided amongst three Danish universities: 60% goes to medical students in Copenhagen, 27% to Aarhus and 13% to Odense. The fund is administered by the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen and supports medical students who require financial assistance.

Who can apply

  • Degree: You are studying medicine and have already completed your bachelor’s degree.
  • University: You are studying at the University of Copenhagen, Aarhus University or the University of Southern Denmark in Odense.
  • Financial need: You are unable to fund your studies from your own resources. The committee decides on the award of scholarships based on your financial circumstances.
  • Grades: You have good academic results.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
  • Also eligible: Junior doctors who carry out scientific research are eligible to apply, regardless of where they obtained their degree. Research into arthritis and cancer at the University of Copenhagen is also eligible for funding.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the faculty’s ‘Grant One’ online portal. If you are a student at Aarhus University, please use a separate, Danish-language application form instead. The fund will not be awarding grants in 2026 and will resume operations in autumn 2027.
