About this scholarship

What you get

You receive a grant from a total pot of DKK 300,000 (about 40,000 EUR). The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen shares this out across five purposes each year. Depending on which purpose you apply under, the money can cover study support, research costs, travel to a symposium (a specialist conference), an author award or a training stay abroad. Each purpose gets a fixed share: 29% for research on diseases in dogs, cats and other small pets, 28% for study support to veterinary students, 18% for veterinary research and sharing knowledge, 14% for Danish vets training abroad, and 11% for livestock-science research by master's students.

Who can apply

The foundation funds five separate groups. You need to fit one of these:

  • Veterinary students in need: You study veterinary medicine at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, and need financial help. Students from outside the Copenhagen area are preferred.
  • Small-pet researchers: You run a scientific study to improve how diseases in dogs, cats and other small pets are diagnosed and treated. Studies that expose healthy animals to disease are not funded.
  • Veterinary scientists: You want support to share veterinary research, for example travel to a symposium or an author award.
  • Danish practising vets: You want to train abroad at a veterinary institution for a set period. As a rule, only projects about production animals qualify.
  • Livestock-science master's students: You are a master's student doing research relevant to livestock production. Projects on domesticated animals, including horses, are usually not funded, and the grant cannot be paid to you as personal salary.

How to apply

You apply online through the foundation's application portal. First create a profile, which works for this foundation only. The new round opens on Monday 5 October and the deadline is Friday 30 October.
