Spanish Ministry of Education - Mobility grants for students of joint French/Spanish master degrees

What you get

You will receive a travel and subsistence allowance of up to 1020 EUR to enable you to complete part of your Spanish-French Master’s programme at the partner university abroad. The stay can last between one and 16 weeks, and you will receive a weekly grant of up to 230 EUR. How much you receive per week depends on where you are travelling to: around 200 EUR for another region of Spain, around 215 EUR for the Balearic or Canary Islands, Ceuta or Melilla, and up to 230 EUR for France or another country within the European Higher Education Area. The grant is provided by the Spanish Ministry of Education. It is intended to promote joint Spanish-French Master’s programmes, which were launched following the 2006 Spanish-French Summit.

Who can apply

• Degree: You are enrolled on an official Master’s programme offered jointly by a Spanish higher education institution and one or more French higher education institutions, which provides for the exchange of students and teaching staff as well as the automatic recognition of credits.
• Where you study: You are enrolled at a Spanish university, whether it is a public or a private, non-profit institution.
• Credits: You are taking at least 30 ECTS credits on the Master’s programme this year.
• Grades: Your average mark so far in your degree course is at least 1.60 (on a scale of 1 to 4) for the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and health sciences, or at least 1.30 for technical subjects.
• Field of study: Any subject is fine, provided that the Master’s programme is a joint Spanish-French programme.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. If you are from a country outside the EU, you will need a valid residence permit that was not issued solely for study purposes.

How to apply

You must submit your application to your own university by the deadline. Please enclose proof of your grade point average and – if you are from a non-EU country – a copy of your residence permit. The Master’s programme coordinator at your university will then draw up a ranking list of applications and send it to the Ministry, which will make the final decision.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is aimed at a small target group: only students on a specific Spanish-French Master’s programme are eligible to apply, meaning that only a few applicants are competing for the scholarship. If you are already enrolled on such a programme and meet the minimum grade requirement, your chances are good. In the selection process, a higher number of credit points and a longer period spent abroad are also viewed favourably. Please note that the last confirmed call for applications was for the academic year 2014–2015; you should therefore check whether the programme is still being offered before making your plans based on it.
