About this scholarship
What you get
You will receive a one-off travel allowance of up to 1,400 EUR for a study or research placement abroad. You will be moving back and forth between a university in Andalusia (southern Spain) and a partner university in Latin America. The grant covers your international travel expenses, and the stay must last at least one week. The funding comes from the Ibero-American Association for Postgraduate Studies (AUIP), which is supported by the Regional Government of Andalusia. The aim is to strengthen links between Andalusian and Latin American higher education institutions at Master’s and PhD level.
Who can apply
- Level: You are a postgraduate student (Master’s, PhD or specialisation) or a professor, researcher or programme administrator.
- Where you study: Both your home university and the university you are travelling to must be fee-paying members of the AUIP. You can view the list of members before applying.
- Direction of travel: You travel back and forth between Andalusia and Latin America.
- Field of study: Open to all subjects.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. What matters are the two participating universities, not your passport.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted via the AUIP online portal, and you must include letters of recommendation from both your home university and your host university. There are two application rounds per year. One application deadline is on 3 November for stays in the first half of the following year, and the other is on 13 April for stays in the second half. A selection committee will make its decision within 30 days of the respective deadline.
How realistic are your chances?
This scholarship is very specific. Both your home university and your host university must already be AUIP members, and you will need binding letters of support from both institutions. Consequently, most applicants already have a firm offer of a place on a degree programme. If you have these connections and a clear plan for your stay, your chances are good. The committee also places great importance on distributing the scholarships across a wide range of institutions and countries, so a rather unusual university partnership could work in your favour.
