About this scholarship

Nursing and Physiotherapy scholarships at Comillas

You get a cut in your tuition fees for one academic year to study Nursing (Enfermería) or Physiotherapy (Fisioterapia) at the San Juan de Dios Nursing and Physiotherapy School, part of Comillas Pontifical University in Madrid. There are five different awards, and the size of the cut depends on which one you qualify for:

  • Top-grade school-leaver award: 100% of your enrolment fee for one year, if you finished your Bachillerato (Spanish upper-secondary school) with the highest distinction (Matrícula de Honor).
  • Excellence award: up to 15% off your monthly fees if you already study here, had a grade average above 9.0 last year and failed no subjects.
  • Study aid: 10%, 20% or at least 30% off your fees for new first-year students, based on your family income.
  • Staff award: 10% off tuition for employees of the San Juan de Dios Hospitaller Order (Spain) and their children.
  • San Juan de Dios Foundation grant: 100% of tuition for students with good results and very low income, who are supported by a social institution that covers their housing and food during their studies.

The support comes from the school and the San Juan de Dios Foundation. You must apply again each year to keep it.

Who can apply

  • Degree: You are studying, or admitted to study, the Bachelor (Grado) in Nursing or Physiotherapy at this school.
  • Nationality: Open to all nationalities.
  • Grades: Needed for two of the awards. The top-grade award needs a Matrícula de Honor at school. The excellence award needs a 9.0+ average with no failed subjects. The study aid is mainly income-based.
  • Financial need: The study aid and the Foundation grant depend on low family income. For the 30% study aid, a one-person household must earn under about 5,988 EUR/year, and a four-person household under about 12,357 EUR/year.
  • Study aid limits: The study aid is only for new first-year students who enter via Bachillerato or a higher vocational module and take at least 60% of the recommended credits. You cannot get it if you already hold a degree, transfer in, or enter via the over-25 route.

How to apply

Apply to the school's scholarship committee before you formally enrol. Once you have enrolled, no applications are accepted. New Nursing students apply from 26 March to 5 July 2026. New Physiotherapy students apply within 7 days of admission or by 5 July 2026. Current students apply from 1 April to 5 July 2026. Decisions come between mid-July and 7 September 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is limited to one school and two degrees, so the applicant pool is small. If you clearly fit one track, whether through top grades or documented low income, your prospects are solid. The awards are paid from a fixed yearly budget, so applying early matters.
