About this scholarship
San Jorge University Excellence Scholarships
You will receive a discount of 80% discount off your tuition fees for the academic year 2026–27, which will be deducted directly from your enrolment invoice. San Jorge University (USJ) is a private university in Villanueva de Gallego, near Zaragoza, Spain. It offers this discount to new undergraduate students with top marks. You can renew the discount in subsequent years if you maintain your academic performance. To do so, you must pass at least 70% of the credits you have taken and achieve a grade point average of 6.5 or higher. This will maintain a discount of 60%, which will increase again to 80% if your grade point average reaches 8. There is no means test; eligibility is based solely on your grades.
Who can apply
- Study level: You are starting your first bachelor’s degree at San Jorge University, which takes place on campus.
- Admission step: You have completed the university’s pre-admission procedure. This means that you have applied, taken any entrance examinations and paid the pre-admission fee.
- Grades (Excelencia I): In the first year of your Spanish course, your recognised Abitur, the European Abitur or the International Abitur, you achieved an average mark of 9 or higher (excluding the subject of Religion).
- Grades (Excelencia II): You have achieved an average mark of 9 or higher in both years of your Abitur programme, or a grade of 9.5 in a higher vocational qualification (CFGS), or an entry mark of 9 from an EU, European or international Abitur, or 9 in at least 60 credits at another Spanish university.
- Field of study: Open to all Bachelor’s degree programmes, with the exception of supplementary courses for teacher training intended for those who already hold a degree.
- Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted via the university’s online form. There is a separate form for ‘Excelencia I’ and ‘Excelencia II’. Please enclose an official, signed and stamped transcript showing your grade point average. The deadlines depend on your pre-admission phase: the application deadline for ‘Excelencia I’ is 26 February or 30 April 2026; for ‘Excelencia II’, the deadline is 2 July, 23 July or 10 September 2026. There is no interview. Placement is based solely on your grade point average, with a recognised language certificate at level B1 or higher being used as a tie-breaker in the event of a tie.
How realistic are your chances?
The bar is set high, but the pool of applicants is small. You will need a grade point average of at least 9, and a maximum of three scholarships will be awarded per degree programme across both categories. If you significantly exceed the grade threshold, apply at the earliest possible stage for which you qualify, as only unfilled places will be available at a later stage. A recognised language certificate may tip the balance in your favour in the event of a tie.
