About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive a 1,000 EUR scholarship to cover all or part of your tuition fees for a postgraduate programme at the University of Jaume I in Castellón de la Plana, Spain. This is a one-off payment for one academic year. The funding is provided by the Balaguer-Gonel Hermanos Foundation, which, as part of a long-standing agreement with the university, funds 15 of these scholarships each year. You may combine this scholarship with other public or private scholarships.

Who can apply

  • Course: You are enrolled on a postgraduate programme at the University of Jaume I. This may be an official or internal Master’s programme, a specialisation programme or an expert programme.
  • Degree: You will already hold a university degree by the time the course begins.
  • Grades: Your average mark in your Bachelor’s degree programme is at least 7.0.
  • Local ties: You were born in the province of Castellón or live there and can provide proof of residence.
  • No second master's: You have not yet obtained a Master’s degree. If you already hold a Master’s degree and wish to undertake a further Master’s programme, you cannot apply.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. If you obtained your qualification outside Spain, you must have your marks officially converted by the Spanish Ministry of Education.
  • Field of study: All participants are eligible to take part.

How to apply

You can submit your application documents as a single PDF file via an online form or hand them in in person at the University’s General Registry Office. The current application round runs until 3 March. Selection is based on your Bachelor’s degree mark and your graduation date; you may be invited to attend a personal interview.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is very narrowly defined: you must be from the province of Castellón or live there, and be enrolled on a postgraduate course at a specific university, meaning that the pool of eligible applicants is small. With 15 scholarships available each year, your prospects are good if you clearly meet the eligibility criteria and have a strong undergraduate GPA. In previous selection rounds, around 100 applicants competed for the places, so a good degree average will help you stand out from the crowd.
