University of Zaragoza - Grants for Disabled Students

What you get

If you have a disability, you will receive individual support to help you complete your degree at University of Zaragoza. This support may take the form of financial assistance, materials or other practical help. The amount is not fixed: a selection committee decides on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the circumstances you have documented and the budget for the relevant year. The grant is awarded by University of Zaragoza and is co-funded by the Regional Government of Aragon. You can claim this grant in addition to the university’s own study grants for undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled on an official degree programme at the University of Zaragoza at Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD level.
• Disability: You have a recognised disability of at least 33% or a long-term special educational need linked to a disability which already required additional support during your previous schooling.
• Field of study: Any subject.
• Nationality: Any nationality.
• Need: You can demonstrate that you require specific aids or support in order to complete your studies as normal.
• No double funding: You will not receive any further funding from a public or private organisation for the same purpose.

How to apply

You can apply at any time during the academic year, as there is no fixed application deadline. Please send your application, together with official proof of your recognised disability, to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs and Career Integration. A committee will review your case and seek an assessment from the relevant university department before making a decision.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is very narrowly defined. You must be studying at the University of Zaragoza and have a recognised disability of at least 33% or proven long-term special educational needs. As a result, the number of people eligible for this grant is small. There is no automatic entitlement: the committee makes decisions on a needs-based basis and within the limits of the annual budget, so it is essential to present a clear, well-documented case.
