Traineeships in Galician Movable Heritage

During your training at a museum within the Galician museum network, you will receive 1,055 EUR gross per month for up to 12 months. This is funded by the Xunta de Galicia (the regional government of Galicia). You will also be enrolled in the general social security scheme, and the relevant contributions will be covered. For the 2026–2027 intake, there are 18 internship places available. You will learn through hands-on experience from the museums’ technical staff. You will combine practical work with theory in areas such as the documentation of cultural heritage and the conservation of museum collections.

Who can apply

• Degree: You hold a university degree (Grado or an equivalent qualification within the European Higher Education Area) with at least 75 credit points in art history, history, archaeology or conservation and restoration.
• Galician language: You hold the Celga certificate 4 (advanced level) or an equivalent official certificate.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. A foreign qualification may be recognised as equivalent.
• Previous grants: You have not yet completed these work placements for 6 months or more.
• No other income: During the work placement, you must not undertake any paid work or receive any other scholarship.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the Xunta de Galicia’s electronic portal (form CT110B). The deadline for applications is one month after the publication of the call for applications, i.e. approximately on 12. Selection is based on a points-based ranking list comprising your academic achievements and additional training; there will be no interview. Applicants with a higher ranking will also have priority when choosing their museum.

How realistic are your chances?

The selection criteria are very strict: you need a specific degree in art history, history, archaeology or conservation, as well as advanced knowledge of Galician (Celga 4). The pool of eligible applicants is therefore small. With 18 places available and a clear points-based system rather than a subjective panel, good academic results and additional courses will work directly in your favour. If you meet the requirements and can provide strong evidence of your achievements, your prospects are good.
