About this scholarship
Traineeship with the Valencian government
You will receive 1,000 EUR gross per month for a 12-month paid placement. This may be extended by up to 12 further months, subject to budgetary constraints. In addition to the monthly stipend, you may receive further funding for courses, seminars and events related to your work. The programme is run by the Regional Government of Valencia, Spain (the Generalitat Valenciana), at its Office for Analysis and Public Policy in the city of Valencia. There are 5 places across two groups: 3 in the field of public policy monitoring, where you will analyse data on government measures, and 2 in the field of economics, where you will track and analyse economic indicators. You will work a maximum of 30 hours per week. The amount is considered a grant rather than a salary, so income tax and social security contributions will be deducted.
Who can apply
- Degree: You hold a degree in Law, Political Science and Administration, or Economics. Law and Political Science qualify for the public-policy places; Economics qualifies for the economics places.
- Recent graduate: Your qualification was issued or recognised by the Spanish authorities no more than 5 years ago.
- Age: You are 35 or younger.
- Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
- No long past traineeship: Since 9 September 2009, you have not completed an internship with the Generalitat that lasted a total of 36 months or longer. Nor are you currently undertaking any other work placement with the Generalitat, unless it is due to end within 2 months.
How to apply
You must apply online by 29 January via the Generalitat’s electronic portal, using a digital signature. You must submit your CV, which will be assessed automatically. The applicants with the highest scores will then be invited to sit a test or attend an interview before the final selection is made.
How realistic are your chances?
This award is very selective: only graduates who are 35 years old or younger and who have graduated in one of three specific subject areas are eligible. There are only 5 places available, so the pool of applicants is limited, as is the number of places on offer. Selection is based primarily on your academic achievements, with additional points awarded for relevant work experience, courses, languages and knowledge of the Valencian language; followed by a final interview. If you have good grades and a clear interest in public policy or economic analysis, your prospects are good.
