Grants for University Students (Castile and Leon)

You will receive a one-off grant for the academic year, which is paid in one of two ways. The income-based grant (Renta) grants Bachelor’s students a fixed amount between 100 EUR and 600 EUR, which is based on your family’s income. The academic achievement grant (Aprovechamiento Academico) pays 1 EUR to 20 EUR for each credit you passed in the previous year. It is available to Bachelor’s students from their second year of study onwards, as well as to all Master’s students. Bachelor’s students can apply for both grants at the same time. The funds come from the Regional Government of Castile and León’s Ministry of Education and supplement the state study grant that you already receive.

Who can apply

• Level: You are in your 2025/2026 academic year on an official Bachelor’s (Grado) or Master’s (Master Universitario) degree programme.
• University: You are enrolled at a state or private university in Castile and León.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Where you live: You are registered (empadronado) in a municipality in Castile and León at the time of applying and will remain registered there throughout the funding period.
• National grant first: You are already receiving the state study grant (beca de matricula) from the Ministry of Education for 2025/2026. You cannot apply without this grant.
• No higher degree: You do not yet hold a qualification at the same level or a higher level than the one you are currently aiming for.
• Income: Your family income is below the national threshold (Umbral 2 for the income grant, Umbral 3 for the achievement grant).
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How to apply

Complete the online form on the Junta de Castilla y León’s platform. Then submit it either in person at a regional registration office or online using a digital certificate or an electronic identity card. Simply filling in the form is not enough; you must register it to complete the application. The deadline for the 2025/2026 round was 17 November, and the next call for applications is expected to take place in autumn 2026. Grants are awarded primarily to families with the lowest per capita income; in the event of a tie, school grades will be the deciding factor.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding is subject to regional and eligibility restrictions. You must live in Castile and León, be studying at one of the universities there, and already be receiving the national student grant, which means that the number of people eligible for funding is limited. If you meet these criteria and your family income is low, your chances are good, as priority is initially given to those with the lowest incomes during the selection process. The annual budget amounts to several million euros, meaning that many students receive funding in each funding round.
