About this scholarship

What you get

You get a monthly grant for a 3-month traineeship abroad. The amount depends on your destination country and ranges from 800 to 1,250 EUR per month (around 1,180 EUR on average): 800 EUR in Southern and Eastern Europe, 950 EUR in most of Western Europe (Germany, France, UK, the Netherlands and others), 1,100 EUR in the Nordic countries and most of Africa, Latin America and Oceania, and 1,250 EUR in the USA, Canada, Australia and Asia. The grant covers your accommodation, food and travel. The University of Zaragoza also arranges your health, accident and civil-liability insurance. You can extend the placement by up to 3 more months, but those extra months are unpaid. The programme is funded by the Aragonese employment institute (INAEM) and run by Universa, the careers service of the University of Zaragoza.

Who can apply

  • Age: You are under 34 on 31 March 2026.
  • Degree: You have finished a bachelor's or master's degree. You can also apply if you are in the final year of a bachelor's at the University of Zaragoza and will get your diploma before the traineeship starts. A foreign degree must be officially recognised as equivalent in Spain.
  • INAEM course: You have completed at least one INAEM employment-training course between 1 April 2025 and 31 March 2026. These courses mainly serve jobseekers in the Aragon region, so in practice you need a link to Aragon.
  • Languages: You can prove at least B1 level (CEFR) in the language you need for the placement.
  • Field of study: All subjects are welcome.
  • Where you go: Any country worldwide. You arrange your own visa.
  • First-timers first: New applicants get priority. If you already held a Universtage grant, you can reapply only for a different country and only if your last placement was at least 1 year ago.

How to apply

You apply between 1 and 31 March 2026 in two steps. First, register or update your profile on the Universa employment portal. Then submit your documents through the university's Solicit@ system. You must also attend a compulsory in-person group session with a Universa advisor. If you do not show up, you are excluded. Results come out by late May, and placements start between 1 July and 1 October 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

Around 45 grants are shared across all fields. Selection runs on a points system that weighs your grades, language certificates, INAEM course hours and your performance in the group session. The need for an INAEM course and an Aragon link narrows the pool sharply, so if you meet those conditions and bring strong languages and grades, your prospects are good. Even if you fall below the cut-off, you can still do the placement in "beca cero" mode, which gives you the insurance but no grant.
