About this scholarship

Benefit

You will receive a one-off grant of 1,600 EUR for a research project lasting one year from the date the contract is signed. The amount will be paid in a single instalment once you have submitted your completed work and it has been approved by CEHIMO. Whilst carrying out your work, you will also have access to the facilities and services at CEHIMO’s headquarters. The scholarship is awarded annually by the Centro de Estudios de Monzón y Cinca Medio (CEHIMO), a local research centre, in collaboration with the Department of Culture of the City of Monzón in Huesca, Spain.

Eligibility

  • Topic: Your project must focus on Monzón and the Cinca Medio district in the Spanish province of Huesca. Any topic or subject area is welcome, provided that this region is the main focus.
  • Original work: Your project must be new and not yet published.
  • Degree: You do not need an academic qualification.
  • Nationality and age: Anyone can apply, regardless of age or nationality.
  • Local link (bonus, not required): Preference will be given to researchers who were born in the province of Huesca or who lived there before 1 January of the current year.
  • No double funding: You may not receive any other funding for the same research topic at the same time.

How to apply

Please send your application by post to CEHIMO in Monzón, together with your CV and a proposal for the project you wish to carry out. The deadline for applications is 31 October 2026. A panel will select the winning project; its decision is final. It may also decide not to award any grant at all.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant scheme is very narrowly defined: your project must focus on a small part of Spain, meaning that only a few people will be eligible to apply at all. If you have a sound, original project that is rooted in Monzón and the Cinca Medio region and, above all, has a local connection to Huesca, your chances are good. Please note that the jury may decide not to award the grant if no project meets their standards – so a well-prepared proposal is crucial.
