About this scholarship

Navarre student scholarships (Gobierno de Navarra)

You will receive a grant of up to about 753 EUR to help fund your studies in Spain. The amount of the grant depends on your family’s income and covers various costs: your tuition fees, a rent allowance if you do not live at home, a travel allowance if you commute at least 5 km, a bonus for good grades, and a grant for digital devices. The funding comes from the Regional Government of Navarre. It supplements the national grant from the Spanish Ministry of Education and thus provides additional support beyond state benefits. You can renew it every year for the entire duration of your studies, up to a total period of 72 months.

Who can apply

  • Level: You are studying for an official bachelor’s (Grado) or master’s degree, or are taking a preparatory course for university entry for people aged 25 or 45 years. Doctorates and second degrees at the same or a lower level are not taken into account.
  • Where you study: You are studying at a university in Navarre (UPNA or Universidad de Navarra), at the UNED (National Distance Education University) or at a university in another part of Spain, if your degree programme is not offered in Navarre.
  • Residence: You have been living in Navarre since 1 January 2023 or earlier and are registered there; you still live there today.
  • Field of study: All compartments are open.
  • Financial need: Your household income is below the specified thresholds. If the budget is exhausted, priority will be given to those applicants whose income per family member is the lowest.
  • Grades: From the second year of your degree onwards, you must have earned a minimum proportion of your credit points: 65% in the natural sciences, engineering and architecture, 80% in other subjects, and 100% for a Master’s programme.
  • National grant: You must first apply for the grant from the Spanish Ministry of Education and must not be rejected on formal grounds.

How to apply

Applications are submitted online via the Government of Navarre’s grants portal. You log in using a digital certificate, your DNI or Cl@ve. The application period runs from around mid-September to mid-October, with the deadline falling on 31 October. There is no interview. The decision will be made on the basis of your application documents and income details.

How realistic are your chances?

As this is a means-tested scholarship intended exclusively for people who live in Navarre and meet the income thresholds, the pool of applicants is limited. If you clearly meet these criteria, maintain the required grades and have applied for the national scholarship, your chances are good. Payments will cease as soon as the budget has been exhausted, and applicants on lower incomes will be given priority. It is therefore advisable to apply early and to provide thorough documentation of your financial needs.
