Municipality of Meco - Scholarships for Higher Education Students

Benefit

You will receive a one-off grant of 1,800 EUR for one academic year. This is intended to cover your enrolment fees and general study costs. The grant is provided by the Meco Town Council (Ayuntamiento de Meco), a small town in the Autonomous Community of Madrid, Spain. The town awards 10 of these scholarships for 2025/2026.

Eligibility

• Where you live: You are registered as a resident (empadronado) in Meco.
• University: You are enrolled at a university for the current academic year.
• Field of study: Any topic is fine.
• Age: You are 25 or younger.
• Financial need: Your family income is low enough that you need support. You submit income data for every household member over 16.
• Other scholarships: You are not currently receiving any other funding to cover your tuition fees, such as the state-funded MEC grant. You must declare any other funding you receive.

How to apply

You can submit the official application form either online via the local authority’s electronic portal (sede electrónica) or in person at the town hall. For 2025/2026, the deadline runs from 23 February to 23 March 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is very narrowly defined. You must live in Meco, be enrolled at a university, be 25 or younger, and provide evidence of financial need; as a result, only a small local group is eligible. With 10 scholarships available each year, someone who clearly meets the criteria and has well-documented evidence of their financial hardship stands a good chance. As this is a local programme, a complete, well-substantiated application counts for more than a polished one.
