University of Almería - Scholarships for study support

What you get

The University of Almería (UAL) in Spain awards you a study grant. This is awarded in addition to, or in place of, the state study grant. The basic amount is a fixed sum of 700 EUR, provided you are studying full-time and meet the academic and income-related requirements. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible to receive a higher amount instead:

• A social security benefit of between 500 and 700 EUR, if you find yourself in a situation of particular hardship.
• A grant of up to 1,400 EUR if you are already receiving state funding but have only benefited from a small portion of it.
• A flat-rate travel allowance of between 200 and 350 EUR if you live at least 10 km from the campus.
• A canteen allowance of 350 EUR.
• Coverage of your tuition fees for the first semester.

The funding covers one academic year (2025–2026). The UAL runs the programme in collaboration with the Regional Government of Andalusia.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled on a Bachelor’s or official Master’s degree programme at the University of Almería.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Study load: You are a full-time student.
• No earlier degree: You do not yet hold a qualification at the same level or a higher level than the one you are currently aiming for.
• Financial need: Your family income and assets are below the thresholds set for the Spanish state grant.
• Where you fit: Either you are not eligible for the State Ministry’s scholarship for academic reasons, or you have received it but for less than 1,400 EUR, or you are in a situation of particular social hardship.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. If you are not a Spanish national, you must have been living in Spain by 31 December 2024.

Applications are made online via UAL Campus Virtual in the ‘Student Services’ section. The application period runs from 17 January to 17 February 2026. Please remember to click ‘Submit’ to complete the process and save your confirmation.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is tied to a specific university and to a demonstrable financial need. Consequently, it is restricted to UAL students who meet the income thresholds. The number of scholarships depends on the budget and the number of eligible applicants, so there is no fixed upper limit. If you clearly meet the income and academic requirements and submit your documents by the deadline, your chances are good.
