About this scholarship
PIMA Andalucía Scholarships
You will receive around 450 EUR per month to study for up to one semester (maximum 5 months) at a partner university in another Ibero-American country. Your academic achievements will count in full towards your degree in your home country. The exact amount depends on where you go. You may also receive a travel grant covering 50% of your travel costs, up to 550 EUR for intercontinental travel. There are no tuition fees at the host university. The programme is run by the Organisation of Ibero-American States (OEI) in collaboration with the Regional Government of Andalusia (Junta de Andalucía).
Who can apply
- Degree level: You are a full-time undergraduate student (Grado).
- University: You are enrolled at a university in the PIMA network. Each network is led by a university in Andalusia and brings together at least three universities in different countries.
- Field of study: That depends on your PIMA network. In the most recent networks, topics such as psychology, social work and engineering have been covered.
- Progress: You have completed at least 50% of your degree programme.
- Residence: You live in an OEI member country.
- First time: You have not yet received a PIMA grant.
- Destination: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply; however, you must go to a country other than your own. If you are a foreign national or were born outside Spain, you cannot choose your country of origin yourself.
- Preferred: Good grades and a lower income improve your chances. The programme also promotes gender equality and the inclusion of people with disabilities.
How to apply
You do not apply directly to the OEI. Applications are made via your home university’s call for applications for the programme. Your university will then select students in accordance with the PIMA criteria and notify both the OEI and the host university. Please note your university’s deadlines, which are usually in December.
How realistic are your chances?
Each network offers only a small number of places, often between 8 and 18. You can only apply if your university and your degree programme are part of an approved network, so the number of eligible applicants is limited. If you are studying the right subject at a participating university and have completed at least half of your degree, your chances are good. Good grades or a lower income are an advantage.
