About this scholarship

Grants for Master Studies (Principado de Asturias)

You will receive a one-off grant of 2,000 EUR for one academic year of a Master’s degree programme. To receive the full amount, you must enrol for at least 60 ECTS credits. If your second academic year comprises fewer than 60 credits, or if you are studying part-time (42 credits), the grant will be reduced in proportion to your number of credits. The funding is provided by the Regional Government of Asturias (Consejería de Ciencia, Industria y Empleo). The total budget for 2025–2026 is 50,000 EUR, and applicants will be ranked so that the highest-ranked receive funding.

Who can apply

  • Level: You are enrolled in or have been admitted to an official Master’s programme in 2025–2026.
  • University: You are studying at the University of Oviedo or at the Spanish National Distance Learning University (UNED).
  • Field of study: Any subject.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
  • Financial need: Your family income is below a specified threshold relating to your tax year 2024.
  • Grades: Your average mark in the degree programme that qualified you for admission to the Master’s programme is at least 6.00 out of 10. For technical degree programmes, the mark is multiplied by 1.17.
  • No existing Master's: You do not yet hold a Master’s degree and have not yet met all the requirements for obtaining one.
  • No overlap: You will not receive any further public or private funding for the same Master’s programme, such as the Master’s scholarships offered by the Federal Ministry.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the Asturias electronic portal (search code AYUD0031T01) or on paper. Only one application per person is permitted. The application period is 30 working days from the publication of the call for applications in the regional official gazette (BOPA). For 2025–2026, it began on 5 June 2025.

How realistic are your chances?

The group of those eligible for funding is small: they must be studying at one of the two universities mentioned, must not exceed the income threshold, and must meet the academic requirements. Places are allocated based on income and academic performance, and only a modest number of scholarships, each worth 2,000 EUR, are funded from the budget of 50,000 EUR. If you clearly meet the income and academic requirements and apply early in the application period, your chances are good.
