Santander-UIB Excellence Awards

You will receive a one-off grant of 1,665 EUR upon commencing an official Master’s degree programme at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) in Palma, Spain. This is intended to reward UIB Bachelor’s graduates with the highest grades who choose to remain at the same university to pursue their Master’s degree. The funds are provided by Santander Universidades in collaboration with the UIB’s Centre for Postgraduate Studies (CEP) and will be transferred to your bank account.

Who can apply

• Your degree: You have obtained a Bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent qualification) from the University of the Balearic Islands.
• What you study next: You are enrolling on an official Master’s programme at the UIB.
• Grades: You have a top academic record.
• Field of study: Any subject.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

You apply online via the Santander Open Academy platform, where you upload the required documents. The application period runs throughout October and closes on 31 October at 23:59 (Iberian Peninsula Time). A CEP committee will review the applications and notify the selected students by email.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding is awarded on a highly selective basis. You must have completed your Bachelor’s degree at the UIB, be transferring to a Master’s programme at the UIB, and have achieved top marks, meaning that only a few students qualify. If your grades are indeed amongst the best in your year group and you apply within the October application window, your chances are good. The best academic performance wins, so your results are the deciding factor.
