About this grant / loan

What you get

The University of La Laguna in Tenerife supports students with disabilities in attending classes and participating fully in university life. Instead of a fixed cash payment, you will receive support tailored to your needs in one or more of the following three forms: travel support for travel between your home and the campus (including adapted public transport or, in exceptional cases, a taxi), a Spanish sign-language interpreter for your academic activities if you have a hearing impairment, and personal technical aids, i.e. assistive technology, reasonable adjustments or paid professional services to help you manage your studies. The total budget for 2026–27 is 10,000 EUR and is divided equally between the two semesters and distributed amongst all students and types of funding.

Who can apply

  • University: You are enrolled at the University of La Laguna, in any degree programme or in its access courses for adults over 25 or over 45. There is no age limit; any enrolled student may apply.
  • Disability: You have a legally recognised disability of 33% or more, which requires special support during your studies.
  • Registration: You are registered with the university’s support programme for students with special educational needs (PAED).
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are studying at the University of La Laguna.
  • If you had it before: If you received this support in 2025-26, you must have passed at least 25% of the credits you enrolled in that year. In severe cases such as serious illness or bereavement, an exception is possible, but only once.

How to apply

You apply for the grant online via the university’s service portal (Portal de Servicios) under ‘Mis ayudas asistenciales’ and then submit your documents via the electronic office. The main deadline is 15 December. For needs arising during the course of the year, there is a later deadline of 15 March.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is subject to strict conditions: you must be studying at this specific university and have a recognised disability of at least 33%, meaning that only a small number of students meet the criteria. If you meet these conditions and can clearly demonstrate your need, your chances are good. Funding is limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so it is advisable to apply during the main application period rather than waiting.
