What the "Matrícula de Honor" scholarship gives you

You will receive free credits on your tuition fees. For every course you complete with a ‘Matrícula de Honor’ – the highest mark in the Spanish system – you will have the corresponding number of credit points deducted from next year’s tuition fees. There is no fixed monetary amount, as the value of the saving depends on your degree programme and the number of credit points you have completed with the highest mark. The university will automatically apply the discount to your tuition fees for the following year. This offer is from the Universitat Abat Oliba CEU (UAO CEU) in Barcelona and forms part of its Student Support Programme (PAE) for undergraduate students.

Who can apply

• University: You are studying for a Bachelor’s degree at the UAO CEU in Barcelona.
• Field of study: Any bachelor’s degree programme at the university is eligible.
• Grades: If you achieve the top mark, ‘Matrícula de Honor’, in one or more courses, the greater the reward.
• First year: For your first year of study, you must provide a ‘Matrícula de Honor’ from your pre-university education, for example from the Bachillerato or a CFGS vocational qualification.
• Nationality: No restrictions regarding nationality have been specified.

How to apply

No separate application is required. You achieve the required grade, and the discount will automatically be applied to the following year’s fees. In the first year, you must provide evidence of your best mark from your pre-university education. The deadlines for the general academic merit scheme are 21 March, 25 April, 23 May and 27 June.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not an award given as part of a competition with a fixed number of places. It is a scheme that applies to anyone who achieves the top mark. If you are studying at the UAO CEU and are awarded the ‘Matrícula de Honor’, the free credit points will be credited to your account automatically. Your prospects depend solely on your own performance, not on outperforming other applicants.
