UDC emergency grant for students hit by sudden hardship

You will receive a one-off payment of 1,000 EUR (gross) if your financial situation has deteriorated significantly during your studies as a result of an unexpected event. The University of La Coruña (UDC) in Spain pays this amount from its own funds to students whose ability to continue their studies is at risk, for example following a family emergency or a sudden loss of income. This support applies to the current academic year.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled on a Bachelor’s (Grado) or Master’s degree programme at UDC in the academic year 2025/26.
• Sudden hardship: Between 1 September 2025 and 31 May 2026, an unforeseen event occurred which significantly worsened your financial situation.
• Study at risk: This incident puts the continuation of your studies at risk.
• Field of study: All subjects qualify.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are studying at the UDC.
• No double funding: You do not receive any other public or private funding for the same purpose. Furthermore, you are not the recipient of the ‘Beca Santander Excelencia 360°’ scholarship, nor do you use the ‘Beca Santander Estudios’ scholarship to fund your tuition fees.

How to apply

You apply online via the UDC form and upload the documents listed in the call for applications. The application period runs from 19 March 2026 until 23:59 on 31 May 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is aimed at a narrowly defined group: only UDC students who can demonstrate a genuine, sudden deterioration in their circumstances are eligible. If you clearly meet these criteria and can provide evidence of both the hardship and the timing, your chances are good. The grant is awarded on the basis of a well-documented case of genuine hardship, not on the basis of academic performance.
