At the Universidad Europea de Madrid, a private university with campuses in Madrid, Valencia, Málaga, Alicante, the Canary Islands and online, you can receive financial support for your studies. The university allocates more than 7 million euros to scholarships each year, meaning that support is available in a variety of forms. Two of the main funding opportunities are as follows: the Scholarship for Academic Excellence provides a one-off payment of 3,000 EUR as a reduction on your tuition fees. The Scholarship for High Academic Achievement reduces your tuition fees by 25% or 40%; for the degree programme in Medicine, the reduction is as much as 50%. Which scholarship you are eligible for depends on your grades and your degree programme.

Who can apply

• University: You are studying at the Universidad Europea (Madrid, Valencia, Málaga, Alicante, the Canary Islands or online) or would like to start a degree there.
• Study level: Open to Bachelor’s, dual-degree, Master’s, postgraduate and PhD programmes, as well as to continuing professional development (CPD) and courses.
• Field of study: Open to all disciplines, from medicine and engineering to law, business, design, sport and communication.
• Student status: Depending on the scholarship, new students, current students and graduates may apply.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Grades: Outstanding academic achievement is required for the most prestigious academic scholarships. For example, to qualify for the highest tuition fee reduction of 40%, a final grade point average of at least 7.5 or a university entrance qualification (CAU) of 8.49 or higher is required.
• Income (excellence grant): To be eligible for the excellence grant of 3,000 EUR, your household income must not exceed 100,000 EUR per year.

How to apply

First, secure your place at university. Then apply online via the university’s scholarship platform and upload the required documents, such as academic transcripts and proof of family income. A committee will review the applications and notify you of the result by email. Deadlines vary depending on the scholarship, with the latest deadline being 30 September (for Latin American students). The application deadline for academic scholarships for first-year students is 16 July, and for some online and postgraduate programmes it is 31 July. You should therefore check the deadline for your chosen scholarship and apply well in advance.

How realistic are your chances?

This covers a wide range of scholarships rather than a single, narrowly defined grant, so there is likely to be one that suits your situation – and the substantial overall budget is a definite advantage. The academic scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and recognise academic achievement; as there is only a fixed number of places available per campus, you should apply early.
