What you get

You will receive up to 330 EUR for taking a foreign language course at the University of Granada (UGR). The course lasts one semester (the second semester of the academic year). The exact amount depends on the course: up to 330 EUR for a 50-hour course at the Centro de Lenguas Modernas (any language, face-to-face or online course), up to 300 EUR for a 60-hour Russian course at the Centro de Culturas Eslavas, or up to 250 EUR for a 45-hour Chinese course at the Instituto Confucio. The University of Granada pays this grant to help you achieve the language level required for your degree (at least B1). You may receive this grant a maximum of twice during your entire course of study.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled on a bachelor’s degree programme at the University of Granada and have paid your tuition fees for the current academic year. You may also apply if you have met all the requirements for your degree, with the exception of the language certificate.
• Field of study: Any subject, provided that a language certificate is required for your degree.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Language level: You have not yet obtained the required language certificate.
• Not funded before: You did not receive this grant in a previous round. Nor are you eligible for the parallel language support scheme run by the Junta de Andalucía for the same purpose.

If there are more applicants than places available, priority will first be given to those students who meet all the academic requirements except for the language certificate, then to those with the highest number of ECTS credits, and finally to those with the lowest income and assets.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the UGR’s electronic office under ‘Becas Propias: Ayudas a la capacitación lingüística en Grado’. For the 2025/2026 round, the application deadline was 3 November. Successful applicants will then take a placement test to be assigned to the appropriate course group.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is open exclusively to UGR undergraduate students who still require a language certificate, meaning that the pool of applicants is limited to a single university. With a total budget of 125,000 EUR, divided into grants of several hundred euros each, there is room for many students. Your chances are good if you clearly meet the eligibility criteria, particularly if you have already completed your degree apart from the language certificate or have accumulated a large number of ECTS credits.
