University of Burgos - Grants for End of Degree Projects and Internships in the Field of Development Cooperation

What you get

You will receive an allowance of 150 EUR per month towards accommodation and meals whilst you spend 30 to 90 days in a developing country. Whilst there, you will undertake your final-year dissertation, your Master’s thesis or your teaching placement as part of a development cooperation project. In addition to the grant, you may receive up to 800 EUR towards travel costs (flights plus journeys by public transport), subject to a maximum of 75% of your actual costs; you must therefore keep your receipts. The total grant amount depends on the length of your stay: up to 500 EUR for stays of up to 35 days and up to 1,250 EUR from 35 days onwards. The grant is tax-free and can be combined with other grants such as Erasmus or state study grants. The University of Burgos funds the programme (known as PPACID) and is awarding up to 16 grants in this cycle.

Who can apply

• University: You are studying at the University of Burgos on an official Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme as part of your final dissertation or your curriculum-based placement.
• PPACID place: You have already been allocated a place through the separate PPACID selection process. You cannot apply for this grant unless you have been allocated such a place.
• Study progress: Undergraduate students must have completed at least 50% of their coursework. This does not apply to postgraduate students.
• No prior award: You have not yet received this grant.
• Cooperation experience: You can demonstrate that you have previously worked in the field of development cooperation or that you have relevant experience.
• Required skills: You meet any specific requirement of the host project, such as a language.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. The key requirement is that you are studying at the University of Burgos.
• Host agreement: The University of Burgos and the Spanish non-governmental organisation, or the host organisation, must have signed an agreement before the deadline.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the University of Burgos’s “Secretaria Virtual” (the online student portal) by 20 May. In the current cycle, the application deadline was 20 May 2026 at 23:59. The selection committee may invite you to a face-to-face interview.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is strictly limited: only students at the University of Burgos who already hold a PPACID place and can demonstrate experience of collaboration are eligible to apply, meaning the pool of applicants is small. As up to 16 scholarships are being awarded in this round, anyone who clearly meets the criteria has a good chance of success. The real hurdle is the earlier application deadline; so make sure you secure your PPACID place first.
