About this scholarship

North America, Asia and Oceania Mobility Scholarship

You have the opportunity to complete part of your degree at a partner university in North America, Asia or Oceania. A single semester abroad is funded for up to 5 months (up to 1,750 EUR). A full academic year is funded for up to 9 months (up to 3,150 EUR). Furthermore, you will not be required to pay tuition fees at the host university, although minor administrative fees may apply. The scholarship is funded by the University of Zaragoza in collaboration with the Caja de Ingenieros and is aimed at its own students who wish to study abroad as part of an exchange programme. Destinations include universities in the USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, Taiwan, China and Azerbaijan.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You are enrolled on an official Bachelor’s (Grado) or Master’s degree programme at the University of Zaragoza and will remain enrolled there throughout your time abroad.
  • Progress (Bachelor): You have earned at least 60 ECTS credits and still have enough credits to complete your degree abroad. In practice, the awards are presented to students in their penultimate year of study.
  • Progress (Master): You are enrolled on a Master’s programme and still have enough credit points left to complete your degree abroad.
  • Length abroad: You will stay for at least 3 months. You will take at least 12 ECTS credits per term, 24 per semester or 48 for a full year.
  • Language: You must hold a B2 certificate in the language of instruction at your host university (English, French or Japanese), for example TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge, DELF/DALF or JLPT. Some host universities require a higher level of proficiency.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects, but each study location is linked to specific degree programmes. Please ensure that your degree programme is compatible with your chosen university.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are studying at the University of Zaragoza.

How to apply

You must complete the online form on the University of Zaragoza’s ‘Secretaría Virtual’ website and list up to three preferred destinations in order of preference. You must then submit the signed form and supporting documents by 19 December. A selection committee assesses applicants primarily on the basis of their grade point average and academic progress. Preference is given to students who have not yet taken part in the programme, and you may be invited to an interview.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is open exclusively to students at the University of Zaragoza, and the number of months for which funding is available is limited. Places are therefore limited and will be awarded on the basis of academic results and progress. Students in their penultimate year of study have a clear advantage. A good grade point average and a valid B2 language certificate are essential. If you choose a destination that suits your degree programme and apply early with a complete set of documents, your chances are good.
