University of Burgos Study Grants

You will receive a one-off payment to cover your tuition fees: up to 700 EUR for an official Bachelor’s (Grado) or Master’s degree programme at the University of Burgos. The amount covers only the credits you take for the first time in the 2025/2026 academic year. The payment is made as a one-off bank transfer and is exempt from Spanish income tax. It is funded by the University of Burgos and Banco Santander; up to 180 scholarships are available in this round. The aim is to enable students from low-income families to continue their studies.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled on an official Bachelor’s (Grado) or Master’s degree programme at the University of Burgos, either on the Burgos campus or the Miranda de Ebro campus. Doctoral programmes, specialisation courses and non-official qualifications are not taken into account.
• Subject: Any field is fine.
• Where you live: You are legally resident in Spain.
• No higher degree yet: You do not yet hold a qualification at the same level or a higher level than the one you are currently aiming for.
• Family income: Your household income is below the specified thresholds. For example, around 16,986 EUR for a single-person household and around 47,566 EUR for a four-person household, based on the tax data from 2024. Asset limits also apply.
• Study load and progress: You are taking at least 60 credits as a full-time student or 30 credits as a part-time student. You must also have passed a minimum proportion of the credits from the previous academic year, which ranges between 55% and 80% depending on your degree programme.
• No double funding: You may not receive a grant from the Spanish Ministry of Education, a grant from the Junta de Castilla y León, or an equivalent regional grant for the same year. However, an Erasmus grant is permitted.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the university’s ‘Secretaria Virtual’, and you must also register on the Santander Open Academy platform. For the 2025/2026 academic year, the application deadline was 5 March. A student committee assesses applications based on the family’s per capita income; in the event of a tie, academic results are the deciding factor.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is intended exclusively for students at the University of Burgos who can demonstrate a low family income; therefore, the pool of applicants is limited to this group. As up to 180 scholarships are available, your chances are quite good if your income falls below the thresholds and you meet the eligibility criteria. The ranking list is drawn up in ascending order of income; so the lower your per capita family income, the better your chances.
